Breyer Snowman
Snowman is a big grey horse with an even bigger heart. Rising from nothing, this horse became one of show jumpings most beloved horses. His story began in 1956 when Harry de Leyer, a Long Island riding instructor, went shopping for lesson horses. Having missed the auction, he spotted those who were rejected being loaded onto a truck. Even though Snowman was bony, beat up and filthy, he grabbed the eye of Harry. He made an offer, and for $80 Snowman belonged to Harry. While Snowman was a hit with the lesson kids, he was then sold to a local doctor as a riding horse. Unfortunately, Snowman only wanted a home with Harry. He kept jumping fences and returning to Harrys yard. Recognizing his talent for jumping large fences, Harry began training him for the show ring. Snowman could clear anything from a 72 fence, to another horse, never touching any rail, or being. Snowman could compete in the childrens classes on the same day we won an open jumper championship. Snowman was a horse for the people. Popular with everyone he met, he was inducted into show jumpings hall of fame. You can own a little bit of Showmans history with this Breyer model built on the Traditional 1:9 scale.
